SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Sophomore centerfielder Brendon Hardin has been named the NESCAC Baseball Player of the Week after helping the Jeffs to a 4-0 stretch and a series sweep of archrival Williams.

Jumpstarting the Jeff offense out of the leadoff spot, Hardin played an integral role in each of Amherst’s wins beginning with a 3-for-6 showing and three stolen bases in a 9-1 victory over Castleton State. Going 3-for-4 with two more stolen bases in the first game of the doubleheader with the Ephs on Saturday, he recorded another hit in the series finale to go along with an RBI.

Hitting .438 in the last four games, Hardin boasted a .471 on-base percentage, finishing with seven hits, five stolen bases, three runs scored, two RBI and a walk. Hitting safely in seven of the team’s 10 games since Florida, Hardin has helped Amherst to a 9-1 mark over that span. On the season, he is hitting .338 with a .407 on-base percentage, ranking second on the squad in runs scored (19) and stolen bases (11).

The Lord Jeffs return to action on Saturday, Apr. 20 in a doubleheader against Hamilton.
