Amy Craig Earns Second NESCAC Player of the Week Honor

AMHERST, MA – Amherst College junior Amy Craig (Denver, CO) has been named the NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for scoring six goals in a 13-8 victory over Springfield College on Thursday evening. This is the second career Player of the Week honor for Craig, who has helped lead the Lord Jeffs to a 2-0 start this season.

Five of Craig’s six goals against Springfield came during the second half as the Jeffs out-scored the Pride 6-5 in the final frame. Craig scored three of her six tallies on free position shots, and she also accounted for the game-winner. Craig led the NESCAC in goals (53), goals per game (3.31) and game-winning goals (5) last year and is well on her way to yet another spectacular season.

The first Player of the Week honor of Craig’s career also came after a stellar performance against Springfield. The junior attacker led the Lord Jeffs during a pair of road wins last April by scoring five goals in a 7-6 victory over Springfield and five more in a 13-7 win over NESCAC rival Conn. College.

Amherst returns to action Monday at 5 p.m. with a game against Claremont-Mudd Scripps in West Palm Beach, Florida.
