SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Amherst College senior co-captain Hillary Densen was named the NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week on Monday after tallying a combined six goals and nine assists in the Jeffs’ home wins over Skidmore and Williams.
With the big week, Densen increased her conference-leading assist total to 25 on the year. Having also netted 17 goals, she moved into a tie for fourth in the league in overall scoring at 42 points.
In non-conference action on Wednesday, Densen registered a pair of goals and three assists as Amherst raced past the Thoroughbreds, 17-5. Densen dished out a pair of first-half helpers to contribute to an 11-3 halftime advantage before opening the second half with a goal then assisting teammate Meghan Mills ’15 and striking for another tally within a two-minute span late in the contest.
The Summit, NJ native was even more lethal on Saturday, punctuating Amherst’s Senior Day celebrations with four goals and six helpers as the Jeffs pounded the archrival Ephs, 16-7. Assisting on four of Amherst’s first five tallies, she generaled the hosts to a 5-2 early advantage before netting her first goal to put the Jeffs up 8-3 just before halftime.
After the break, the senior once again took charge, finding Alex Philie ’14 then striking twice herself as she fired a laser into the upper right corner to make it 11-4. After finding Mills for her sixth assist, Densen broke a nearly seven-minute scoring drought just after the midway point of the period as she wrapped around from behind the cage for her 10th point of the afternoon.
Densen and Amherst wrap up their regular season schedule with a home date against top-ranked Trinity at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
