Lambert became the program's third Academic All-America honoree and fifth NCAA champion.

AMHERST, Mass. – Amherst College cross country and track & field standout Keri Lambert ’13 put the finishing touch on an incredible junior year by earning a spot on the prestigious Capital One Academic All-America Team today.

Lambert and Ben Scheetz ’12—who earned an Academic All-America selection on the men’s side today—became the 26th and 27th Lord Jeffs to earn the honor, joining some of the most accomplished student-athletes in Amherst history.

A native of Amherst, Lambert maintains an A-minus average as a history major. As an Academic All-America Third Team selection, she joins former Amherst runners Elise Tropiano ’09 (Second Team) and Carter Hamill ’05 (Second Team) as the women’s program’s only honorees. Lambert is also the lone female runner from the NESCAC—and one of only five from a New England institution—to earn an Academic All-America selection this year.

Last month Lambert joined Hamill and Tropiano on another prestigious list by capturing a national title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She also earned All-America honors in the 5,000-meter run, closing the books on an incredible year.

Prior to the spring, Lambert placed fifth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships as Amherst’s top runner. She followed with an exceptional indoor track season as one of the best distance runners in Division III, helping the Lord Jeffs place ninth at Nationals in the distance medley relay. Also a multiple NESCAC All-Conference and All-Academic selection, Lambert was recognized as the conference’s Performer of the Week three times this year.

The Capital One Academic All-America teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The award, which was introduced in 1952, aims to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic performances.
