Jeffs Take Eighth at AIC Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Keri Lambert ’13 won the 1500 meters and Abbeh Anderson ’15 had a pair of top-three finishes to highlight the efforts of the Amherst College women’s track and field team at the American International College Invitational on Saturday. Facing Division I, II, and III competition, the Jeffs placed eighth of 16 programs with 40 team points.
Anderson started things strong for Amherst in the sprints as she took third in the 100-meter dash (12.78) and second in the 200 (25.62). Taylor Summer ’16 also scored in the 100, placing eighth in 13.02 seconds.
Later, Lambert led an impressive Jeff contingent in the 1500 as she triumphed in 4:39.44, posting Division III’s 11th-fastest time of the season up to date. Teammate Lauren Almeida ’13 was close behind, taking third in 4:44.40 while Amy Dao ’14 picked up a point with an eighth-place time of 4:52.47.
Katie Hurt ’15 put forth a strong effort in the 400-meter hurdles, taking seventh in 1:11.61 before the 4x400 Meter Relay placed fourth in 4:12.24.
Amherst will be back in action next Saturday at the UMass Invitational.
