Lambert Leads Jeffs at Little III Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Keri Lambert ’13 won the 5000-meter run in dominating fashion with a time of 17:01.99, leading the Amherst women’s outdoor track & field team to a third-place showing at the 2013 Little Three Championships.
Finishing over a minute and a half ahead of her closest competitor, Lambert shaved nearly two seconds off her time (17:03.87) from the Tufts Snowflake Classic - which had been the second-fastest Division III time in the nation. Teammate Caroline Rose ’16 took second-place (18:39.42), clocking in almost 13 seconds ahead of Wesleyan’s Chloe Lalonde ’13.
Lauren Almeida ’13 paced Amherst in the 800m run, placing second with a time of 2:20.31. Amy Dao ’14 took fourth (2:24.41), followed closely by Victoria Hensley ’16 (2:25.18) in fifth. The trio would also team up with Keelin Moehl ’16 on the squad’s second-place 4x400 relay team (4:09.14), while Lambert joined Jamila Odeh ’13, Kristen Moulton ’13 and Sarah Daly ’13 on the runner-up 4x100 relay (1:03.36).
Also competing in the 1500m, Daly finished fourth with a time of 4:49.11, while Lizzy Briskin ’15 came in fifth (4:55.36). Taylor Summers ’16, who recorded a fifth-place finish in the 200m dash (27.19), led Amherst in the field events, posting a third-place showing in the high jump (1.35m).
Host Williams took the top team honor with 187 points, followed by Wesleyan (105) and Amherst (70).
