AMHERST, MA - The New England Small College Athletic Conference named Amherst senior tri-captain Alex Chang-Graham (San Carlos, CA) the first conference Pitcher of the Week for 2010 for her play during the Lord Jeffs' Spring Break trip. Amherst posted a 5-5 record during a six-day stint at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

Chang-Graham's 2-3 record during the week is certainly deceiving, as 11 of her 20 runs allowed were unearned. In each of her three losses, she allowed two earned runs or fewer without walking a single batter. In each of her complete-game performances against Wheaton, Fredonia State and Curry, Chang-Graham pitched at least 7.0 innings, walked nobody, struck out at least six, allowed no more than seven hits and no more than one earned run.

Chang-Graham threw a three-hitter against Curry Mar. 19 in what was perhaps her best performance of the week. In the 14-0 win, Chang-Graham had six strikeouts with no walks.

As the ace of the Lord Jeff staff, Chang-Graham has earned All-NESCAC First Team honors in each of the past two seasons. She was named the NESCAC Pitcher of the Week one time last season, in addition to earning CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team honors. Chang-Graham is off to another wonderful start, with a 1.77 ERA, 23 strikeouts and only three walks in 35.2 innings pitched.
