Neill had five of Amherst’s 12 hits during a pair of low-scoring games, adding two runs scored and a pair of RBIs. In Wednesday’s 4-3 win over WPI, she went 2-for-3 and scored a run, singling to left field with two outs in the fourth inning before leading off the bottom of the sixth with a single through the left side of the infield.

In Thursday’s 2-0 win over Springfield, Neill went 3-for-3 with five putouts. In between her singles in the first and sixth innings, Neill belted a two-run homer to left center in the bottom of the fourth, marking the only two runs of the game and her second long ball of the season.

During Amherst’s current four-game winning streak, Neill is batting .615 (8-for-13) with a .643 on-base percentage, 1.000 slugging percentage, six RBIs and six runs scored, all of which are team highs. Through 12 games, she is leading the Lord Jeffs in batting (.406), runs (12), slugging (.688) and on-base percentage (.565).

Neill is the first Lord Jeff to be named NESCAC Softball Player of the Week since 2007. She will look to build on her four-game hitting streak when Amherst returns to action Tuesday, Mar. 30, with a 4 p.m. game against Western New England College. Please check the team schedule for further updates to game dates and times, as inclement weather is expected this week.
