The 2013 season will be Tess Gagliano’s first as a member of the Amherst College coaching staff. A native of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., she graduated from Springfield College in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies. In addition to coaching, Gagliano is pursuing a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, which she plans on completing in 2013.

Gagliano was a four-year member of Springfield’s softball team, helping the Pride compile a 97-73-2 (44-20 NEWMAC) record as an infielder. Her junior season was particularly impressive, as she posted a .366 batting average and led the team in slugging percentage (.610). She belted 10 home runs in her career and was elected one of the team’s captains as a senior, and in 2011 she earned a spot on the NFCA Academic All-America team.
