Amherst Returns to Action with 106-56 Win at Cal-Tech

high 17 points in the win.
Amherst took an early 20-point lead just over 8:30 into the game on a three-pointer by senior Marcus Bradley (Latham, NY) putting Cal-Tech down 31-11. The Lord Jeffs never slowed down, and ran away for a 57-33 halftime advantage.
At the break, Amherst was shooting an eye-popping 61% percent from the floor, including a 7-for-15 performance from beyond the arc. The Lord Jeffs also held a were also on their way to 41 points off turnovers during the game, as they picked off the ball 19 times for steals.
The second half brought not relief for Cal-Tech, as Amherst cruised home to a 106-56 win. The Lord Jeffs were paced offensively by senior co-captain Brian Baskauskas (Palo Alto, CA) with 17 points. Juniors Steve Wheeler (Bloomington, MN) and DJ Carcieri (Narragansett, RI) each scored 13 points in the win as well.
Cal-Tech was led by Matthew Dellattorre and Travis Haussler on the offensive end, as each player scored 16 points in the losing effort.
With the victory, Amherst improves to 8-0 for the third time in the last four seasons. Last year during the winter vacation, the Lord Jeffs suffered a road defeat at NAIA foe Florida Memorial University, before rolling off 16-straight victories to close out the regular season.
Amherst will face Pomona-Pitzer on Friday evening at 5 p.m. (EST) before returning home to kick off the first two installments of Little Three play. After a January 6 road trip to Wesleyan, the Lord Jeffs will face archrival Williams College away on January 10.
