Jaci Daigneault Named NESCAC Player of the Week
AMHERST, MA – Amherst College sophomore Jaci Daigneault (Guilford, CT) has been named the NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for leading the Lord Jeffs to a pair of conference wins this past weekend. Daigneault is the third Amherst player to earn the weekly honor this season.
In Friday’s game against Bates College, Daigneault shot 9-for-12 from the floor to lead all scorers with 19 points, adding 12 rebounds and four steals in 28 minutes of action. When the Jeffs hosted Tufts University the next day in a crucial NESCAC matchup, Daigneault scored 12 points and pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds to mark her fifth double-double of the season and her third in as many games.
With just one weekend of regular season games remaining, Daigneault ranks 17th in the NESCAC in scoring (11.1 ppg), seventh in rebounding (6.8 rpg), 15th in steals per game (1.41) and third in field goal percentage (52.9). In her last six games—a stretch that includes four double-doubles—she is averaging 11.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.2 steals per contest as one of the team’s most consistent players.
Amherst returns to action Friday, Feb. 13, for a 5:30 p.m. matchup with archrival Williams College. When the Jeffs and Ephs met earlier this season in a non-conference game, Daigneault recorded 23 points and 11 rebounds on 11-of-15 shooting despite playing only 18 minutes.
