Stacy Brossy Named NESCAC Player of the Week

AMHERST, MA – Amherst College senior Stacy Brossy (Lukachukai, AZ) was named the NESCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for leading the Lord Jeffs to a 77-55 win over Clark University last Thursday. Brossy is the first Amherst player to be honored by the NESCAC this season.

In her first start of the season, Brossy led Amherst (9-0) to its ninth win by scoring a career-high 19 points with four rebounds and an assist. The senior guard was 7-for-9 from the floor and 5-for-6 from beyond the arc, as she is now fifth in the conference in three-point field goal percentage (.448).

Entering the week, Amherst leads the NESCAC in scoring offense (79.2 ppg), scoring defense (43.6 ppg), field goal percentage (.462), field goal percentage defense (.308) and rebounding margin (+14.6). Despite a high-powered offense, the Jeffs feature only one player in the top 20 in the conference in scoring average.

Amherst began the week ranked 12th in the nation as one of only two remaining unbeaten teams in the NESCAC. The Jeffs return to action Sunday, Dec. 28, to take on Fitchburg State in day one of the Land of Magic Classic at Daytona Beach.
