Voigt Tabbed Player of the Week

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Marcia Voigt ’13 has been named the NESCAC women’s basketball Player of the Week after helping the Lord Jeffs remain unbeaten on the year, extending their win streak to 17.
Opening an impressive three-game stretch against Kean, Voigt poured in a team-high 20 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Hitting seven of her 15 field-goal attempts, she connected on 4-of-8 from beyond the arc, while hitting both of her tries from the free throw line.
Continuing to impress against Bowdoin, Voigt once again led the team in scoring, netting 17 points with five assists and three boards. Shooting 5-for-10 from the field, she connected on 2-of-4 three-pointers, while knocking down 5-of-7 from the charity stripe.
Closing out the week against Colby, she was the Jeffs’ leading scorer for the third time in as many games, netting 18 points with four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Logging 35 minutes, she was 8-of-16 from the floor, helping Amherst hold off a late Mule charge.
Shooting 48.8 percent (20-for-41), including 38.9 percent (7-for-18) from long distance, Voigt averaged 18.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists during the week and currently leads the team in scoring (12.8), while topping the NESCAC in assists (3.8).
