Jeffs Open Weekend with 5-0 Win at Conn. College

NEW LONDON, CT - The Amherst College women's ice hockey team scored four goals in the third period and held a 52-15 advantage in shots during a 5-0 win over Connecticut College Friday evening at Dayton Arena. The Lord Jeffs improve to 5-3-2 (4-0-1 NESCAC), while the Camels drop to 5-6-0 (3-4-0). The two teams will meet again Saturday at 3 p.m. in New London.

Kerri Stuart '14 (Tewksbury, MA) made 15 saves to earn the shutout in her first collegiate appearance, while Stephanie Clegg '12 (Woburn, MA) scored a pair of goals to lead the Amherst offense. Courtney Hanlon '11 (Fullerton, CA) opened the scoring 11:30 into the game, but the score would remain 1-0 until Amherst erupted for four goals in the final period. Amy Leichliter made 47 saves for the Camels.

Josie Fisher '12 (Norwich, VT) and Ashley Salerno '14 (Brunswick, ME) accounted for Amherst's other two goals. The Jeffs have allowed only one goal during their current three-game unbeaten streak.
