Jeffs Move to 2-0 with 4-3 Win at Colby College

WATERVILLE, ME- Tarasai Karega (Detroit, MI) scored a pair
of goals as the fourth-ranked Amherst College women's hockey team held on for a 4-3 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday at Alfond Rink.
Amherst (2-0) led 2-0 after the opening period on goals by Karega and Megan Quinn (Wakefield, MA). The Lord Jeffs went up 3-0 when Lindsey Harrington (Westford, MA) tallied just 2:31 into the second period.
The Mules (0-1-1) got some momentum when Stephanie Scarpato (Osterville, MA) scored her first collegiate goal with just five seconds left in the second period.
Colby got the lead down to 3-2 when Amanda Comeau (Southbury, CT) scored 6:02 into the third period, but Karega got her second goal at 11:57 to give Amherst a two-goal lead.
Becky Julian (South Windsor, CT) cut the lead to 4-3 with 3:58
left in the game, but Amherst was able to hold off the Mules.
Krystyn Elek (Summerville, S.C.) had 17 saves for Amherst, while
Genevieve Triganne (Pointe-Claire, Quebec) made 25 stops for Colby.
