Jeffs Compete at Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Amherst men’s indoor track & field team competed at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
Highlighting the day for the Jeffs in track events at the meet that featured schools from Division I, II, and II, was Matt Melton ’14. The senior took 15th overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.55 seconds.
Amherst also posted strong showings in the 5,000 meter run. Pacing the Jeffs with a time of 14:56.71 was junior KC Fussell. Fussell took 20th overall while teammate Dan Crowley ’16 finished 30th in the field with a mark of 15:05.31.
Rounding out the top performers for the Jeffs in track events were Brent Harrison ’16, Nick Codola ’15 and Alex Durkee ’15. The trio competed in the 800 meter run with Harrison leading the way, crossing the finish line in 1:56.51. Codola finished shortly after in 1:59.29 and Durkee completed the event in 2:00.52.
Mark Cort ’15 and Khalil Flemming ’16 represented Amherst in field events and grabbed top-15 marks in their respective events. Flemming finished 13th overall in the triple jump with a mark of 13.64 meters while Cort claimed 15th in the long jump with a distance of 6.42 meters.
The Jeffs return to the track on Saturday, Feb. 1 to compete at the Springfield Invitational.
