HADLEY, Mass. - Three Amherst squash players were honored when the NESCAC announced its all-conference teams today, with Arielle Lehman '15 (Greenwich, Conn.), Kate Savage '12 (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Scott DeSantis '15 (Sudbury, Mass.) each picking up second-team all-league accolades.
Helping the Amherst women post a 11-9 record en route to a Walker Cup (C Division) selection at the CSA National Team Championships, Lehman has been a fixture in the Jeff lineup this season, appearing in all 20 matches. Playing in the first and second positions, Lehman rebounded from a rough 3-5 start, winning her next five matches en route to a 10-10 record in 2011-12.
Savage has seen time at the top three positions for Amherst this season, racking up nine wins. After a slow start, she enjoyed a strong midseason stretch, winning five of her next seven matches from Jan. 21-Feb. 3. Together, Lehman and Savage have posted a 12-4 record against teams participating in this year’s Walker Cup.
DeSantis helped the Amherst men to a 13-8 record and a second-straight Summers Cup (C Division) consolation title at the CSA National Team Championships. DeSantis burst onto the scene in 2011-12, seeing time in the first, second and third positions, before headlining the top of the Jeff lineup over the final seven matches. Following a tough 3-6 start to his collegiate career, the first year reeled off an impressive midseason stretch, winning five of six, while moving to the top of the Lord Jeff order.
