Lord Jeffs Fail to Get Back on Track at Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Amherst College women’s squash team traveled east to face Brown University this afternoon. The 17th-ranked Lord Jeffs suffered a 9-0 defeat at the hands of the 9th-ranked Brown Bears to drop to 5-7 on the year. The loss was the fourth straight shutout loss for Amherst.

Amherst was unable to put up much of a fight against the powerhouse Bears, but first-year Hayley Mibourn (Balitmore, MD) was very impressive. The rookie was the lone Lord Jeff to take a game off of her opponent, and refused to surrender a game without a fight.

After dropping the first game 9-2, Milbourn elevated her game play and took five points off of Haynes in the second game. Sitting in an 0-2 hole, Milboun crawled back to take the third game by a wide margin, 9-4. In a hotly contested fourth game, Haynes took the match with a 9-5 win.

Amherst falls to 5-7 on the year with the loss, but will return to action this weekend for four matches as part of the Mt. Holyoke-Smith-Amherst Invitational.
