CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Amherst College women’s squash team closed its season with a 9-0 win over Bowdoin in the CSA Championships, avenging a 6-3 loss the Lord Jeffs suffered to the Polar Bears earlier in the year.

The Lord Jeffs end their season with a 13-10 record, which will leave them at No. 19 in the final CSA rankings. Amherst will host the CSA Individual Championships, a three-day event that will begin Friday, Mar. 2. Participants will be announced early in the week.

Bowdoin had upset Amherst in the NESCAC Championships, but the Jeffs turned the tables on Sunday with a hard-fought victory. Chandler Lusardi ’13 was swept by Bowdoin’s Torey Lee when they first met this season, but Lusardi picked up a 3-1 win at the top of the lineup this time around.

Arielle Lehman ’15 and Kate Savage ’12 each finished with a 3-0 record for the weekend by winning their matches at two and three, respectively. Also wrapping up perfect weekends were Mary Katherine McNeill ’13 at eight and Ginny Wheeler ’13 at nine, with McNeill edging out a 3-2 victory over Christina Whitcomb.

Also earning a 3-2 win for Amherst was Anna Scheidt ’12 in the fifth spot, as she dropped two of the first three games to Elizebth Schetman before battling back, marking the second time this season Schetman let one slip away against the Amherst senior.

Evelyn Kramer ’14 and Lena Rice ’14 picked up 3-0 wins at numbers four and seven, respectively, while Sarah Nyirjesy ’13 rounded out the group with a 3-1 result in the sixth match. Nyirjesy lost her first game to Bonnie Cao but took the next three by scores of 11-7, 11-5 and 11-4.
