W-Squash Falls to George Washington, 7-2

AMHERST, Mass. - First-years Corri Johnson and Taryn Clary picked up their second wins in as many days, but the 19th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team fell to No. 12 George Washington University, 7-2.

Winning the first two frames of her eighth position match-up with Sarah Allen ’16, 11-9 and 11-8, Johnson dropped the third set 11-4 before rallying for an 11-9 win in the fourth. Clary improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 3-0 (11-4, 11-7, 11-4) sweep of Adriana Calderon ’14.

The Colonials’ Anna Porras ’16 defeated Chandler Lusardi ’13, 3-0 (11-7, 11-6, 11-2), at the top of the order, while Jackie Shea ’14 dispatched of Arielle Lehman ’15 in straight sets. Kelly Barnes ’14 kept things rolling for George Washington with a 3-1 (11-3, 6-11, 11-9, 11-6) victory over Anne Piper ’13, while Emely Levyn ’16 handed Meyha Sud ’16 a 3-0 loss in the fourth spot.

Elizabeth Tapley ’14 took down Khushy Aggarwal ’16, 3-0 (11-7, 11-6, 11-5), in a sixth position showdown, while Maya Nair ’14 downed Sarah Nyirjesy ’13, 3-0.

The Jeffs will look to break back into the win column on Wednesday, Dec. 5 against Smith.
