Kendra Stern Earns NESCAC Swimming and Diving and Honors

AMHERST, MA - Just four days after the NESCAC named Amherst College first-year Kendra Stern (Albuquerque, NM) the Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week for her strong performance at Union College, handed Stern a national swimmer of the week award. Stern and the Lord Jeff women are a perfect 6-0 this season, and will return to action Saturday, Feb. 2 at MIT. Full Story

Stern, a freestyle specialist for the 6-0 Lord Jeffs, has already set the conference on fire this season in her rookie campaign. While already holding the best times of the year in the conference in the sprint events, Stern has started to make her presence felt in the longer distances.

The Lord Jeff star won both the 200-yard (1:53.83) and the 500-yard (5:03.77) freestyle events last weekend, and also had a hand in the 400-yard medley relay to lift Amherst to a 142.5-97.5 win over Union. Stern holds the top times in the NESCAC this season in both the 50-yard (23.84) and 100-yard (52.60) freestyle. She set both those marks in a win against Middlebury College Dec. 1, 2007.

Stern and the Lord Jeffs return to action Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. meet at M.I.T.
