Kendra Stern Named National Swimmer of the Week
AMHERST, MA – CollegeSwimming.com announced Wednesday the latest National Swimmer of the Week recipients, with Amherst College sophomore Kendra Stern (Albuquerque, NM) representing the Division III women. Stern was honored for leading the Lord Jeffs to a 160-131 victory over MIT this past Sunday.
Stern had two individual wins in the dual meet victory over the Engineers, as her marks of 23.78 in the 50-yard freestyle and 5:01.02 in the 500-yard freestyle were each good enough for NCAA “B” times. She also swam exhibition in the 200-yard individual medley for another NCAA “B” time (2:09.14). This is the second time Stern has received the national award this year. Last week, she was named the NESCAC Performer of the Week for her performance against Union.
Stern was first recognized on the national level as a first-year when a dominant performance against Union College earned her NESCAC Performer of the Week and the SwimmingWorldMagazine.com National Swimmer of the Week honors. Nearly one month later, Stern was named the CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmer of the Week for a stellar showing at the conference championships.
Stern and the Lord Jeffs return to action Saturday, Feb. 7, when they travel to take on Springfield College in their final dual meet of the season.
