Kendra Stern '11 Named NESCAC Performer of the Week
AMHERST, MA – Amherst College’s Kendra Stern ’11 (Albuquerque, NM) has been named the NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, the conference announced today. Stern won three individual events in dominant fashion during a dual meet against archrival Williams College.
Stern won the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley against the Ephs, moving her record in individual events to 9-0 on the season and 76-4 for her career. Stealing the show this past Saturday was her 200-yard freestyle time of 1:46.80, the second-fastest ever in the history of Division III. Stern holds the national record in the 200 (1:45.31) and has never lost a race in the event (19-0).
Stern’s other two victories at Williams came in convincing fashion. Her time of 50.53 in the 100-yard freestyle left her 3.11 seconds ahead of the runner-up, while her 2:05.79 in the 200 IM was 3.57 seconds faster than anyone else in the pool. Stern won the same three events against the Ephs last year, a performance that led to a National Swimmer of the Week honor.
Stern has been named NESCAC Performer of the Week three times in her career and is a seven-time National Swimmer of the Week honoree.
