Sholtis Named NESCAC Performer of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. – Connor Sholtis ’15 of the Amherst men’s swimming and diving team was named the NESCAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, Jan. 13.
Sholtis played a pivotal role in the Jeffs thrilling, come-from-behind victory over archrival Williams on Saturday at Pratt Pool as Amherst improved to 5-0 in dual-meets this season.
In his first event of the day, the junior from Evansville, Ind. won the 100-yard freestely in 47.01 seconds. Five events later, he followed up with another first-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.00.
In addition to his individual feats, Sholtis anchored the 400 freestyle relay team consisting of Conor Deveney ’15, Tyler Hampton ’15 and Tyler Bulakul ’14, with a time of 45.94 seconds to pull off the 127-115 victory. As a team, the relay squad finished in 3:08.66 to edge out Williams’ ‘A’ squad with a mark of 3:09.13.
The Jeffs return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 25 for a dual-meet at MIT scheduled for 1 p.m.
