AMHERST, Mass. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released its Capital One Academic All-America® Division III At-Large teams today and named Amherst women’s diver Lizzy Linsmayer ’14 a third team selection.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
The list recognized 45 Division III women student-athletes from across the country and Linsmayer was one of three NESCAC honorees, joining seniors Kara Shoemaker (women’s tennis) of Williams and Shelci Bowman (women’s tennis) of Tufts.
After earning a first team academic all-district team selection, for the second-straight season, Linsmayer was awarded her first Division III at-large award. The senior concluded an impressive career following another strong campaign in which she finished second in the 3-meter board (486.25) at the 2014 NCAA Championships and placed third in the 1-meter (443.50). She also excelled at the conference meet and captured the 1-meter title (465.25) while claiming third in the 3-meter event.
A six-time All-America performer, Linsmayer is also the program’s record holder in both the 1 and 3-meter dive. Among the many postseason accolades she has garnered throughout the years, the geology major and recent graduate was also named an academic All-NESCAC selection and grabbed the league’s Diver of the Year award in 2013.
