Jeffs Cruise to Third Straight, Defeat Wesleyan, 109-85

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Amherst women's swimming & diving team earned seven first-place finishes out of 11 events as the Jeffs cruised to a 109-85 dual-meet victory against Wesleyan on Monday night at the Wesleyan Natatorium.
The Jeffs began the night by claiming the 400-yard medley relay event. The team consisting of Sabrina Lee '15, Emily Hyde '16, Sarah Conklin '16 and Lulu Belak '14 finished in 4:00.05 to earn first and Sky Deardorff '17, Linda Lu '17, Cassie Gross '14 and Allison Merz '14 took third in the event with a mark of 4:08.55.
The Jeffs swept the 500 free as Charlotte Cudy '16, Audrey Ingerson '14 and Anna Pietrantonio '14 claimed first, second and third, respectively. Cudy finished in 5:15.37 followed by Ingerson in 5:18.07 and Pietrantonio with a time of 5:22.81.
Belak won the 100 free, edging teammate Ashleigh Stoddart '15 as she finished in 54.52. Stoddart claimed four points with a time of 55.12.
In seventh event of the night, Amherst swept the 200 fly as Conklin won in 2:11.47, Gross grabbing second with a time of 2:14.68 and Suzi Stein '14 taking third in 2:16.88.
The Jeffs claimed another first-place finish in the 200 breast as Abby Hahn '14 took the event with a mark of 2:27.36.
Stoddart earned nine points in the 50 free, claiming the event with a mark of 25:31 seconds while Merz took second in 25:83.
Amherst wasn't done yet and added another win towards the end of the night as Emily Hyde '16 swam the 400 individual medley in 4:36.90.
The Jeffs return to the pool Saturday, Dec. 7 for its 2013-14 home opener against Middlebury in a dual-meet beginning at 1 p.m.
