AMHERST, Mass. - Amherst first-year Greg Han has been named the NESCAC men’s swimming and diving Performer of the Week after helping the Jeffs to a 183-100 victory over rival Middlebury College over the weekend.
The second Amherst swimmer named to the conference’s weekly honor roll this season, Han swam a full lineup, participating in the 200 medley relay, the 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes and the 200 IM.
Han opened the day by helping his team place second in the 200 medley relay by turning in the fastest breaststroke split with a time of 26.81. The Cheshire, Conn. native then touched in nearly two seconds ahead of teammate Alex Kang ’15, winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.68.
Even more impressive in the 200-breaststroke, he broke a six-year-old pool record, clocking in at 2:06.85, just over eight seconds ahead of his closest competitor. The rookie narrowly missed out on a third victory in his final race, finishing just over two tenths of a second (1:57.58) behind Jeff Anderson ’16 for the fastest time in the 200 IM.
Amherst returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 11 against archrival Williams.
