Arts

Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program (Department of Education)
Provides financial assistance to students who undertake graduate study leading to a doctoral degree or Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in fine and performing arts, humanities or social sciences. Fellowships can be offered to U.S. citizens who at the time of application have not yet completed their first full year of doctoral or MFA study or are entering graduate school for the first time in the next academic year.
Deadline: Early October, annually

Metropolitan Museum of Art Fellowships and Internships
A wide variety of opportunities are offered, ranging from summer internships to graduate fellowships and year-long work-experience fellowships. See website for information on specific programs and their application procedures. Phone: 212-570-3710.
Deadline: Varies, early deadlines begin in late January

Film/Theater

Princess Grace Awards
A national program dedicated to identifying and assisting emerging young artists to realize their career goals in the fields of dance, theater and film. Offers a variety of fellowships, grants, apprenticeships and other opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students, based on the artistic quality of their past work, their potential for future excellence and the appropriateness of activities to the individual's artistic growth.
