To access a counselor at any time, call us at 413-542-2354. We provide mental health counseling 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In the event of an immediate, life-threatening emergency, please call Amherst College Police emergency line at 413-542-2111.
The Counseling Center provides assessment, counseling, brief psychotherapy and referral to Amherst College students on a voluntary and confidential basis. Our purpose is to help students cope with dilemmas in their personal development or with painful life events, and also to help students develop a resiliency so they are better able to respond to problems and concerns. We are here to help in ways that further students’ growth and make their experiences as Amherst students more productive and successful. Here are the services we offer:

Please call our main number, 413-542-2354, to schedule an appointment, or drop by between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. We're a little hard to find; click here for directions.
Our clinical services are confidential, and your conversations with us are privileged. We will not share any information about you without your explicit written permission, including with academic departments, parents, faculty members or others. Read our Policy on Confidentiality for more details.
