Getting Started as a New Student
Welcome to the Amherst Family!
The following emails were sent to first-year students and new transfer students, respectively, on June 1, 2015:
Order your Class of 2019 portrait from Panfoto LLC, today!
If you didn't receive either of these emails (perhaps because your high school email account was disabled), do NOT worry since an exact copy of the email is posted above. All important information from the Office of Student Affairs is posted on the web pages referenced below and on the New Students web site. All future communication from our office will go to your Amherst email account.
Please review the following guidelines and instructions for getting started. These will help you make a smooth transition into the new semester. In particular pay attention to sections with deadlines.
New Student Guide: Contains information about Amherst College and living in Amherst. Please look over this guide before you complete the forms referenced below.
Click on 'AC Data Forms' above or in the left menu for information about these forms. Deadline: June 15, 2015.
PDF and Web Forms
Health Forms - Deadline: July 3, 2015
The Health Forms are in the Portable Document Format (PDF), and you must print, complete, and return these forms to Health Services via mail, fax, or as email attachments. These forms are required components of your pre-registration medical file at Amherst College. Massachusetts Law requires up-to-date immunizations or blood tests verifying immunity.
Accessibility & Accommodation Disclosure and Request Form - Deadline: June 15, 2015
This form should be completed when a student has indicated his or her desire to request reasonable accommodations from the college for a learning or physical disability.
Your next communication from the Office of Student Affairs to your Amherst email will be on or around July 1st. This mailing will be in regard to your LEAP Selections. A few days into Orientation, you will begin an immersive LEAP (learn | explore | activate | participate) program. The LEAP programs will run from Thursday, September 3 to Saturday, September 5. Participation in one of the LEAP programs is mandatory for all incoming students. All LEAP programs are free.
The goals of the LEAP programs are:
- Build community and help new students make long-lasting friendships
- Facilitate collaborative learning and discovery
- Challenge students in supportive contexts to move outside of their comfort zones
The Office of Communications contacted you to ask for a photo. Their deadline is: June 15, 2015. More information about that request is here.
