 So far this year, Valentine has used over 33,000 lbs of produce from the Book & Plow farm at Amherst College!!

Letter from the Director

Welcome to Amherst! The Amherst College dining experience is much more than great food.  It is a community experience focused on great service, culinary expertise, fresh & natural ingredients with a commitment to environmental and social responsibility.  We are a self-operated, full-service dining operation for the entire campus community taking pride in providing you with a variety of balanced & delicious foods while being responsive to your individual tastes and nutritional needs. 

We operate the Student Dining program, Schwemm's Coffee House, Frost Cafe, Grab-n-Go and Lewis-Sebring Commons.

Dining Services has had long-standing success working with students with medically restricted diets.  If you have a food allergy or a medically related dietary restriction and have questions or converns regarding safe eating in Valentine, please contact Charles Thompson, Director of Dining Services or Jeremy Roush, Executive Chef to make an appointment to discuss your dietary needs.

The Dining Services staff & I take pride as a team of food service professionals, working together to enhance the excellence of the academic experience.  We want to make your dining experience as pleasurable as possible, so please feel free to stop by and say hello or aproach us with any questions you may have.   We welcome and appreciate your feedback about our food & service so we can better serve you as our customers.  This can be done in several ways; via the Dining Services website, comment cards, email, by phone or just stop by our office with your suggestions.  These comments are circulated to several members of our management team & the most appropriate person will respond to you.
