COVID-19 Updates

Welcome to Fall 2020! The Counseling Center is open and eager to support you. We are providing all services through secure remote video to any student on-campus or residing in Massachusetts.

Students out-of-state can receive free mental health care through MySSP, which provides online support and tele-health counseling to students in any location. On-campus support groups continue to be open to students regardless of location. If you need assistance accessing services in your locatioon you can receive help from our the Counseling Center's case management services.

  • If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, call The Counseling Center's 24/7 phone number at 413-542-2354, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) or reach the Crisis Text Line by texting HOME to 741741 (in the U.S.).
  • If you are on-campus or in Massachusetts and can wait a few hours for help, we offer urgent mental health care from 9:00am-4:00pm by calling the Counseling Center at 413-542-2354.
  • In the event of an immediate, life-threatening emergency on campus, call Amherst College Police emergency line at 413-542-2111. For students off-campus or out-of-state, call 9-1-1.

We will not share any information about you without your explicit written permission, including with academic departments, parents, faculty members or others.
