Amanda Collings Vann
Director of Health Education and Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Students
Amanda is responsible for developing the health promotion strategy for the campus; and the research, development, implementation and evaluation of health education initiatives. Amanda supervises the Student Health Educators and the Peer Advocates for Sexual Respect.
Amanda joined the Amherst College community in the fall of 2013. Amanda has over 20 years of experience in college health, her specialty areas include sexual violence prevention, comprehensive sexual health, substance use and abuse, peer education and leadership development. She is particularly interested in exploring the ways in which identity impacts the health and well-being of our students.
Amanda holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master’s degree in Health Education from The Pennsylvania University where her thesis focused on Sexual Violence Prevention Programs for Women. She has served on the board of various non-profits and has provided training to various schools and non-profits organizations.
When Amanda isn't at work she's hanging out at home with her family and puppy, reading, cooking, baking, gardening and spending time outside.
