Education and Outreach Programming and Events

 Our evidence-based, interactive wellness programming is available to students and staff around campus. Our programs build individual and collective skills to improve wellbeing and care for our community.  We work to create opportunities for our community to engage with and understand the intersections and connections of identity, social justice, and culture and how they impact health and wellbeing.

Materials to Improve Health and Wellbeing

Safer Sex Supplies 

We provide internal and external condoms, water-based and silicone lube and dams to students through our programs and events and by distributing safer sex kits to CAs, individucal students and departments on request via this online form as well as through our Health Education Vending Machine located in the basement of Keefe Campus Center.

Health and Wellness supplies such as heat/ice packs, aspirin, menstrual products, safer sex supplies and pregnacy tests are availbalble at cost or free through the health care vending machine located in the basement of the Keefe Campus Center.

Free Supplemental Menstrual Products

We distribute menstrual products including pads (size 3 and 5), pantyliners, and tampons (regular and super).  Products are available in the Frost Library women’s and gender inclusive restrooms, the shelves in the Keefe Campus Center outside the Mammoth Market and at the Health Center. Menstrual Cups are also available upon request. Please email HealthEd@amherst.edu to inquire about additional information & submit a request. 

Online Courses

Amherst College mandates two online evidence-based training courses for incoming first year and transfer students. All students are expected to complete part one of each course prior to the arrival on campus.  Part two of each course is completed 6-weeks after students arrive on campus. 

AlcoholEDU

AlcoholEdu provides evidence-based information to help students make healthy decisions and develop healthy habits that will last until well after they leave Amherst. I

Students who complete this course will be able to:

• Link choices about drinking to academic and personal success
• Reset unrealistic expectations about the effects of alcohol
• Practice safer decision-making
• Identify ways to create and contribute to a healthier campus community

Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates course (SAPU)

The Sexual Assault Prevention course provides information about critical topics affecting college students everywhere — relationship violence, sexual assault, stalking and sexual harassment. 

Students who complete this course will be able to:

• Recognize warning signs of unhealthy relationships and abuse
• Identify how to respond if experiencing or witnessing stalking or sexual harassment
• Identify consent as a normal, natural and expected part of healthy communication
• Understand common reactions to trauma
