A pap smear (short for Papanicolau smear) is a screening test for cervical cancer. The pap smear looks for abnormal cells which could turn into cervical cancer if not treated appropriately. The pap smear test consists of a collection of cells from the cervix, during a routine pelvic exam. Screening with a pap smear starts at age 21.

The Providers at the Health Center routinely perform pelvic exams/pap smears as well as clinical breast exams. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please call the Health Center at (413) 542-2267.
