Emily Jones M.D, Health Center Director
Emily Jones graduated from Princeton University and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She completed her residency in Family Practice and her Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University-Fairfax. Prior to becoming the medical director at the Keefe Health Center at Amherst College in August of 2016 – she spent 6 years as a primary care sports medicine physician at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Concord, New Hampshire.
When not at work – Emily enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children. As a former athlete - she loves all forms of exercise and sports. When not running around – she enjoys reading historical biographies and working on the house and yard.
Alyssa Pawlowski, Nurse Practitioner
Alyssa graduated from Regis College as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2010. She worked in primary care/internal medicine for 5 years before joining the Amherst College Health Center in November of 2015. She grew up in Western Massachusetts and slowly migrated to Eastern Mass for school before returning home after she graduated.
Alyssa is married to her husband and they have two kids, a son and a daughter, who are opposite in almost every way except for their high energy level and volume. She enjoys spending time outdoors, playing with her kids, and relaxing (rare) and drinking coffee (frequent).
Edward McGlynn, Physicians Assistant
Ed McGlynn graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at Hahnemann University with a B.S. in 1994. After working for two years in Family Practice he returned to work at the University(UMass) Health Services where he had started as a Clinic Assistant. There he worked for 9 years in the Urgent Care(now Walk-in) Clinic. He began working at Keefe Health Center in 2004. He left for one year to work at an outpatient substance use disorder clinic before returning in the fall of 2015. He is currently doing more work in the areas of travel medicine, smoking cessation, and acne treatment.
In his spare time, Ed enjoys walking, cooking and vacationing with his wife Donna.
Shirley Moe, Registered Nurse
Shirley graduated from Bates College with a BA in Psychology in 2002 and Simmons College with a BS in Nursing in 2009. She has 15 years of experience working in healthcare and joined the Amherst College Health Center family in June of 2015. Prior to coming to the Pioneer Valley, she lived in Boston for 10 years working as an oncology nurse at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and as a triage nurse in obstectrics and gynecology at Atrius Health.
Shirley was born and raised in Machias, Maine and loves living in Western Mass because it reminds her a little of home. During her free time she enjoys hiking mountains, relaxing with friends, taking long walks, and singing.
Traci Roy, Lead CMA
Traci started her health care career in 2003 after graduating from Porter and Chester Institute as a Certified Medical Assistant. She joined Amherst College Health Center in August 2015. She comes to us with a diverse career in Medical Assisting ranging from Pediatrics, ENT, General Surgery, and 7 years of training college age students to become Medical Assistants at Porter and Chester Institute.
Traci was born and raised in Western, Ma. She is married to her wonderful wife, Amanda, has 3 fur babies Vinnie, Zoe and Chloe, 3 stepchildren and a beautiful granddaughter Rosealie Hope. In her spare time she enjoys spending time outside including camping and hiking with Amanda and their pup Vinnie. Quiet time for Traci is reading and cuddling on the couch.
Lyndsay Gauthier, CMA
Lyndsay has been a Certified Medical Assistant since 2004 and has over 13 years of healthcare experience. She spent 10 years working as a certified clinical hemodialysis technician at an in-center hemodialysis facility in Chicopee, and over 2 years as a Medical Assisting instructor at a technical institution. She joined the Amherst College Health Center family in November of 2016.
Outside of healthcare, her interests revolve around her 2 children and fiancé. She enjoys spending time outside with her family, whether it is hikes through the woods armed with a camera, fun-filled days at amusement parks, or lazy afternoons on the beach.
Diane Vadnais, CMA
Diane Vadnais began her career as a Medical Assistant in the Emergency Room but within several months had an opportunity to open a General Surgery Practice. She knew from that point on she would want to work in specialty clinics and has worked with many specialists in the past decade, her favorites being cardiology, thoracic and plastic surgery. Then she began a career teaching medical assistants before being promoted to the position of Educational Supervisor of Medical Assisting. She joined the Health Center in April of 2017.
Diane was born and still lives in Palmer, MA. She considers herself a townie but loves to travel. She feels lucky to have met some amazing people in her line of work and still considers many of them friends.
Meghann Jurkowski, Nutritionist
Meghann graduated from Framingham State with a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, and Northeastern University with a MS in Applied Nutrition/Nutrition Education. Living in Boston for 5 years, Meghann worked the spectrum of the nutrition field touching on clinical, corporate, food service, teaching and starting her own web site. She moved back to Western Mass in 2014 to work at Amherst College as the Menu Coordinator at Val. Nutritionist was added to her title in spring 2016.
Outside of work, Meghann spends her time adventuring and enjoying life with friends and family. She is constantly feeding her passion for travel, exercise – specifically running, the outdoors, food and music (Has been known to plan her summer around Phish tour).
