Dining at Amherst College

During the Fall Semester 2021, Dining Services will be offering a distributed dining model to create social distancing while still offering a robust menu. Watch this video for information about ordering meals, meal pick-up locations, and other steps we’ve taken in our dining program to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Dining Services - Covid-19 Response

During this Fall Semester in 2021 we are offering a distributed dining model to create social distancing while still offering a robust menu.  The changes are listed below:

  • All meals are to-go only, no onsite dining (for the first 2 weeks)
  • Dining locations are only available to students: Valentine Dining Hall – Russ Wing and Lewis Sebring
  • Implement the use of reusable containers: These containers will need to be returned for proper washing and sanitizing
  • Locations and hours:
    • Breakfast (7:30 a.m.-10 a.m.): Valentine / Lewis Sebring, additional sites as needed.
      • Breakfast weekend hours (8 a.m. - 10 a.m.)
    • Lunch (11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.) / Dinner (5 p.m.-8:30 p.m.): Valentine Dining Hall – 3 locations within Valentine: Valentine Main, Russ Wing, and Lewis Sebring
    • Grab n Go Lunch 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday: Keefe Campus Center (Schwemm's)

*Significant efforts have been made to create a menu for those who have food allergies.  These menu items will be offered in Lewis Sebring.  We have dedicated this space and kitchen to offering items that are free of the top 8 allergens and all meat options will be certified Halal.

Birthday cakes will be available starting October 10th!

  • All cakes are 8" round, can serve 12-15 people and cost $20.
  • We accept check, AC Dollars and for staff; payroll deduction.
  • All orders must be submitted 2 business days in advance from pick up/event date. Pick up times must correspond with dining hours.
  • Limit of 4 cakes per day.

Please email valentine@amherst.edu to receive a form or to submit an order.

The goal of Amherst College Dining Services is to deliver great food one plate at a time, while honoring our commitment to locally produced, sustainable and high quality food.

Our dining locations—from Valentine Hall to Schwemm’s Coffee House to our new Science Center café—are bright, cheerful spaces where you can settle in for conversations and delicious food with friends.

Our food is real, too. We use fresh, local ingredients, much of which comes from our Book & Plow Farm, an on-campus farm that has been supplying Valentine dining hall with fresh produce—including carrots, onions, summer squash, kale, mustard greens, tomatoes, bok choi and more—since 2013.
