What You Need to Know

Amherst College hosts 34 student residence halls and houses. Seven halls comprise our First-Year Quad. Twenty-seven halls and houses, existing in various room configurations, are dedicated to returning students. The occupancy of our buildings ranges from 10 to approximately 125.

Housing Selection Process

The Housing Selection Process and all housing logistics are administered by the  Housing & Operations Team. Please contact the Housing & Operations Team directly with any questions related to housing selection and placement.

Community Living Concerns

Our residential programs are supported by student Community Advisors (CAs) and professional staff. Our dedicated staff are available to support students toward the resolution of their challenges and the identification of engagement opportunities.

Room Change Requests

Room change requests require careful evaluation. Your first step is to contact your CA about a room change. If your request is ultimately approved, the Housing & Operations Team determines where and when a move is possible.

As you prepare to join us on campus, please consider the following items for your packing list. We recommend no more than two suitcases.

Laundry Facilities

Laundry facilities are available in the residence halls. AC Web Laundry provides web access to real-time laundry machine status information for campus washers and dryers.
