2019 Pre-Orientation will be held Wednesday, August 21 - Monday, August 26!
New International Student Pre-Orientation is a required (and fun!) program for all new visa-holding international students and exchange visitors beginning in the fall term.
If you are a new F-1 or J-1 visa holder, a space is automatically reserved for you. We also welcome any students who identify as international or would like to participate — just email us if you would like more information or to register. During Pre-Orientation, you will have a chance to explore campus, learn about helpful campus resources, review important information for international students, and get to know your international classmates and International Student Leaders.
Traditionally, the Pre-Orientation program takes place around the third week of August, just before the First-Year Orientation program. New visa-holding international students and exchange visitors are expected to attend BOTH programs, so be sure to plan accordingly.
International students are expected to arrive on campus on or by Wednesday, August 21 to participate in Pre-Orientation. Shuttles will be provided from Boston Logan Airport to Amherst College for new, unaccompanied international students who sign up before the deadline.
If you would like to request any type of accommodations during Pre-Orientation, please feel free to contact the Center for International Student Engagement (CISE) or email Accessibility Services for more information.
