The Cozy Corner

Added to the MRC in Fall 2017, the Cozy Corner is a space in the MRC for students to relax, pick up a book, or do some work in a quieter environment. The Cozy Corner is home to our Lending Library, which includes books, movies, and games relating to people of color and social justice. The Cozy Corner also displays an illustration of our mission statement for all visitors to read. We ask that vistors take their shoes off before entering the Cozy Corner to keep the rug clean.

The Multicultural Resource Center recognizes that people of color are disproportionately affected by issues of health and environment. Many communities of color experience direct oppression in the form of environmental racism, from damage to indigenous land by the Dakota Access Pipeline to lead poisoning in Flint, Michigan. Therefore, the MRC believes that pursuing environmental justice is central to our goal of racial justice.

The MRC Is Going Green!

We have replaced disposable coffee cups with ceramic mugs. All visitors to the MRC may use these mugs, but we ask that you wash and return the mugs immediately after use. You may also bring your own mug to utilize in the MRC.

We have replaced our Keurig with a coffee maker to prevent waste in the form of K-Cups.

We ask all visitors to place compostable materials in the compost bin. This includes compostable water cups available by the water fountain at Schwemm’s.

We encourage all students to print double-sided when utilizing the MRC printer.
