Silvia (she/her/hers) is a 2018 graduate of Amherst College. At Amherst, Silvia majored in Law, Jurisprudence, and Social Thought. While working at the QRC, Silvia worked as an Activities Coordinator, Outreach Coordinator, and Education Coordinator. On her time at the QRC, Silvia remembers, “The QRC was my favorite part of my Amherst experience. Through the QRC, I learned the value of having a strong community and how much that community can impact the college experience. Even when I was not working, the QRC was my favorite place to study and just hang out on campus. It is definitely a very special place that gifted me wonderful relationships and invaluable skills.” Silvia is currently a first year student at Boston University School of Law working towards a Juris Doctor degree. She is based in Boston (Go Red Sox!)

Nayah (she/hers) is a 2017 graduate of Amherst College. Nayah majored in Sociology and received the Five College African Studies Certificate. She served as an Office Assistant between 2013 and 2015 and as an Education & Advocacy Coordinator between 2015 and 2017. On how the QRC impacted her, Nayah had this to say: “The QRC was a space for me to first learn about a community I was new to and then learn how to educate about advocate for the needs of my community (...mostly within the institution and institutional structures). My personal experience was loving, challenging, uncomfortable, affirming and healing. I hope the QRC will continue to do work to center marginalized populations within the queer community so that others can have similar supportive, growth experiences in the QRC and at Amherst.” Nayah is currently pursuing her Masters in Social Work at Smith School for Social Work. She has been based in Northampton for the past year and is moving to the DMV for her second internship placement.

Amira (they/he) is a 2016 graduate of Amherst College. While at Amherst, Amira majored in Black Studies and Sexuality, Women's & Gender Studies. Their staff role at the QRC was Office Coordinator. When asked how the QRC impacted his time at Amherst, Amira had this to say: "The QRC had a profound impact on my time at Amherst. It provided a sense of community, a home away from home, and some of my most meaningful friendships." Amira is currently a third-year PhD student in Women's Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. They are based in the mid-Atlantic region.

João (he/him) is a 2016 graduate of Amherst College. At Amherst, he majored in Political Science and received a certificate in Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies. While at the QRC, João was a Community Outreach Coordinator. When asked how the QRC impacted his time at Amherst, João had this to say: “The QRC really shaped my Amherst experience…Through activism, some students and I advocated for a proper resource center, with its own funding and a selected staff person to take care of it. And the QRC became my second home; I’d study, work, relax and laugh there. The QRC gave me community when I wasn't quite sure where to find it. Being a queer Latinx as well as an international student was hard to navigate at Amherst, but somehow all my identities would fit in the QRC.” João is currently working at Semesp, a national association for private universities in Brazil. He intends to pursue a Master’s in Education in the next two years. He is based in São Paulo, Brazil.

Lindon (he/him/his) is a 2015 graduate of Amherst College. While at Amherst, Lindon majored in Political Science. As a staff member at the QRC, Lindon worked as a Graphic Designer. When asked how the QRC impacted his time at Amherst, Lindon had this to say: "The QRC introduced me to queer students in each and every class who identified with every identity under the rainbow; kept me up-to-date with queer politics, theory, and culture; and gave me the opportunity to design some pretty gay posters. Also, the QRC helped me fall in love with RuPaul's Drag Race." He is currently based on Brooklyn, New York and just started a job at Facebook, where he works on the Global Marketing Solutions team.
