Queer Resource Center
The mission of the Queer Resource Center (QRC) is to support the queer and trans students of Amherst College. The QRC seeks to empower the lives of queer and trans students and provide a safe, intentional, open, and confidential atmosphere where students can gather openly and discuss relevant issues/topics. Through dynamic programming and educational outreach, the QRC seeks to improve the campus climate for queer and trans students and advocate for the respect and safety of all members of the campus community.
Women's and Gender Center
The Women’s and Gender Center seeks to foster a critical awareness of gender and create an intentional space, accessible to students of all genders, that will serve as a resource and forum for topics and issues related specifically to women and, more broadly, to the experience of gender. The Center promotes learning about and exploring gender through personal experience, academic inquiry, community organizing, and discussion across difference. Visit the webpage here.
Trans Affnity Space
Open to current students and alumni in the five colleges, this space centers all folks of trans experience, including those who explicitly identify as transgender, nonbinary, genderqueer, and/or at some distance from the gender they were assigned at birth and/or who are exploring their gender identity. This space is coordinator and supported by both the QRC and WGC.
Nonbinary Affnity Space
This space is dedicated to empowering and uplifting nonbinary, genderqueer, gender non-conforming, and gender creative students, faculty, and staff. This is a space that centers people who identify within these groups or who are exploring their identities
Queer/Trans People of Color (QTPOC) Group
QTPOC (Queer and/or Trans People of Color) group seeks to support students in the five colleges who identify as queer/trans/genderqueer people of color. This group seeks to provide a safe space for queer people of color to build community, to celebrate all facets of our identities, and to engage in meaningful discussion. This space is coordinator and supported by both the QRC and MRC.
