Trans Resources on Campus

Image of two trans women of color, with text reading "Remember Trans Power. Fight for trans Lives."

This page exists as an expanding and changing resource for the trans community at Amherst College. In order to make life on campus more comfortable and navigable, all resources that are available to and that center trans students, staff, and faculty are compiled and explained below. These resources include administrative and legal regulations and advice, healthcare and presentation information, gender-inclusive housing and restroom information, and help with finding communities/trans spaces in the area. While orienting yourself in a space that privileges cisgender people can be challenging, isolating, and overwhelming, the QRC is working hard to center trans experiences, particularly the experiences of trans POC. Please email us if you have any questions!

Queer Resource Center

The mission of the Queer Resource Center (QRC) is to support the queer and trans students of Amherst College. The QRC seeks to empower the lives of queer and trans students and provide a safe, intentional, open, and confidential atmosphere where students can gather openly and discuss relevant issues/topics. Through dynamic programming and educational outreach, the QRC seeks to improve the campus climate for queer and trans students and advocate for the respect and safety of all members of the campus community.

Women's and Gender Center

The Women’s and Gender Center seeks to foster a critical awareness of gender and create an intentional space, accessible to students of all genders, that will serve as a resource and forum for topics and issues related specifically to women and, more broadly, to the experience of gender. The Center promotes learning about and exploring gender through personal experience, academic inquiry, community organizing, and discussion across difference.
