Birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, founder of the Sikh faith and first of the Ten Gurus, was born in 1469 CE. He was an accomplished poet; 974 of his hymns are contained in the Sikh Scriptures, the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
