What: A 30-minute practice of guided mindfulness, intimate conversation, and heartfelt words. 10 minutes each. No religion or belief in God required.

Why: Because being present, connecting through conversation, and sharing hopes are basic human needs, served for some, but not all, by religious traditions. Because 15-17% of Amherst students identify as spiritual but not religious (SBNR), and 46% of Amherst students identify as SBNR, agnostic, atheist, and/or not having a religious tradition.

Who: While crafted particularly for those outside of, between, or tenuously within religious traditions, all Amherst students (on campus or remote), faculty, and staff are warmly welcome.

When: Offered by request. Sessions of various length can also be requested with specific residence halls, student groups, teams, and classes. Staff and faculty can requests sessions for their departments. Please contact RSL Director Harrison Blum (hblum@amherst.edu) to schedule a session for your group.
