A native of nearby Windsor, Connecticut, JoDeanne Francis serves as the first H.T. Gardner Bi-Semester Christian Worship Coordinator and an Associate Advisor working with Black Campus Ministries. In the spring of 2017, she graduated Amherst with degrees in both Sexuality, Women, & Gender Studies and Psychology. While at Amherst, she felt God’s call to be empowering, equipping, and encouraging Black students to pursue their own purpose beginning at Amherst and continuing beyond. Her work with the Bisemester Committee, Resurrect Gospel Choir and Remnant, played a crucial role in her decision to become the Bisemester Coordinator and Advisor to BCM. She strongly believes in the unique beauty of Black religious culture, the necessity of Black voices, and spaces for Black students to call home. Her hope is to continue to see not only the lives of Black students transformed by the Gospel but also true racial reconciliation result in multiethnic fellowships.
