Timothy Jones ’04 is a native of Richmond, VA, and is the Senior Pastor at Community Baptist Church in New Haven, CT. In the midst of completing his psychology degree at Amherst College, Timothy felt a strong call to the ministry in the summer of 2003. After completing his degree in psychology at Amherst in 2004, Tim served as the Youth Pastor at St. John’s Congregational Church in Springfield, MA. In March of 2009, Tim was called to the Pastoral Staff at First Central Baptist Church. Soon after arriving at First Central, Tim received his Master of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology in May of 2009. After two years at First Central, Timothy went back to St. John's to serve as an Associate Pastor. On August 11th, 2013 Tim accepted the Senior Pastor Position at Community Baptist Church.
At Community, Tim has the task of shepherding a growing and progressive congregation located in the heart of the Newhallville neighborhood in New Haven, CT. Tim has also been blessed to preach for various conferences, colleges, and churches across the country. God has also blessed him with the opportunity to spread the Gospel overseas by participating in the “News Release” Basketball program in Europe. In the fall of 2012, Tim became a candidate for a PhD in Practical Theology from the Boston University School of Theology.
By his side in life and ministry is his gifted and beautiful wife, Nelly Jones. Tim and Nelly have two children, Sofia Esperanza and Ezekiel Levi. Tim is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
