Welcome to the Fall 2012 Amherst Milonga information page! 

The actual Milonga will take place on Sunday, December 9th, 7-10PM. 

Location: Friedman Room, Keefe Campus Center, Amherst College

Welcome to all who are interested in tango, from the Five Colleges and beyond!!!

Refreshments will be served !!!

About Pablo Aslan: Pablo Aslan's new tango dance band features some of the wonderful musicians in New York who have come to tango from other musical genres. Pianist Claudine Hickman and violinist Sarah Geller are experienced classical musicians, and clarinetist Margot Leverett has had a distinguished career in Klezmer music. Led by bassist and producer Aslan, a Grammy nominee and a tango pioneer in the US, they deliver the style and elegance of tango with a unique flavor. 

 

Master Classes will be hosted on Saturday, December 8th, Noon-3pm:

Location: Friedman Room, Keefe Campus Center, Amherst College

12-1:30 PM  Beginner Class with Rebecca and Eric:  "Theory of Tango Movement" 
Bring a friend who has never danced! Experienced dancers come to expand your knowledge and help partner the newcomers.

1:30- 3 PM  Continuing Class with Rebecca and Eric:  Milonga! Cris-Crosses and Zig Zags.

  • Sunday December 9th1-3 PM Master Dance Class in Mount Holyoke College with Eric and Rebecca: "Tango in Performance". Learn about elements of tango used in performance and see demos of their application.
  • Sunday December 9th 3-5 PM Lecture Demo in Mount Holyoke College with The Pablo Aslan Quartet: Learn about Tango music; it's history, and how a dance band is directed and orchestrated, with examples demonstrated live by the musicians!

Two Master Classes at the Mt Holyoke College Dance Department are hosted in Kendall Gym, Studio 3, Mt. Holyoke College Campus. Artists will make time for answering questions from the participants.
