UMASS TOURNAMENT ~ 3/28/09

ACRFC 26 v. Sacred Heart 12

In the second game of the tournament ACRFC had a much stronger performance by the forwards pack allowing the backs to really exploit our speed mismatch on the outside. The pack received a huge boost from locks Nick Mancuzi (’10) and Sam Rudman (’09) who proved dominant in the scrums. Prop Tim Rose (’09) led the defensive charge with aggressive counter-rucking and physical presence. Offensively the ACRFC wingers were too potent for the Sacred Heart defense as Louis Sallerson (’11) and Chris Linsmayer (’11) combined for four tries. Three of which were set up by fly-half Jeremy DeCuir (’09). Three of the four conversions were put over by new center Rorry O’Connor (’09), who has made a quick transition from Amherst soccer. While Sacred Heart was able to push over two late tries, ACRFC remained composed and was able to hold on for a much-needed victory.
