We’ll learn the ASL alphabet, and you’ll be able to finger-spell any word in the world! We will also be learning basic words, such as animals, pronouns, etc. Come for an interactive learning experience!

His words attest to the persuasive power of statistics, and this class aims to uncover lies told through statistics we often encounter in our everyday lives, from advertisements to the media. We will go through examples and hold group discussions on the topic. Prior exposure to statistics is unnecessary.
 
Mythbusters: Diet Coke and Mentos Edition
Have you ever had some one say, "if you eat soda with mentos, your stomach will EXPLODE?" In this class, we will be looking at the science behind the myth and do a little experimenting of our own.

Looking good, feeling great. Better take a selfie! ...but wait. Why do I look so bad in this picture?!
In the Instagram era, everyone's a photographer. So why do some photos look better than others? 
Learn the basics of image composition and pick up some tips and tricks that will improve your 
photography in a snap! A fancy camera in the hands of a bad photographer doesn't help anyone,
so learn what the pros do and save your money! You'll be taking better selfies in no time!
 
The Skyscraper Challenge
In this course, we will explore the basic components of physics and how they relate to architecture.  We will also discuss the history of the skyscraper and its effect on the social fabric of modern society.  Students will then compete to build the tallest and most structurally sound skyscraper using a limited supply of materials.

Growing Up: How Children's Literature and Poetry Shape Our Lives
Take a trip down memory lane as we explore various ways that children literature provide a doorway into literacy and literature. Students can expect to discuss children's books like Good Dog Carl, Cat in the Hat, Where the Wild Things Are, and Harold and the Purple Crayon  from a young adult's perspective. We will also explore the basic mechanics of poetry, looking at the works of Shel Silverstein and others.
 
Humor vs Drama
Students will learn how to channel their inner drama/humor to absolve themselves from difficult situations. For example: Uncomfortable class discussions, arguments between two of your friends, prospective conflicts with school administrators. Above all, they will earn/enhance their public sparking abilities.
 
Let's Get Creative!
Get Creative with crafts and drawing! Learn how to make paper-based crafts or how to make awesome jewelry. Drawing paper will be supplied for those who'd like to just come in and spend the hour sketching.

Want to learn how to salsa? No, not the tomato kind, the dance kind! Come learn about the origins of this dance and some fun moves to impress your family and friends with!
